Ring Sizing

We usually size rings within 1 hour. You can watch if you wish! We can do this because we do all the work on site and have people working all business hours who are professionals with experience and training to do repairs and custom work.

Rings being sized smaller are cut to remove a piece of the lower portion (shank) and then welded back together. Rings being sized larger are cut so a piece can be added to enlarge the shank to fit the finger intended. The metal used for this enlargement is matched to the metal the ring is made of (10k, 14k, 18k, white gold, yellow gold, platinum or silver). When the sizing is complete, the ring looks just like new and the shank is the same width and thickness as the original. We always Rhodium plate white gold after the sizing process.

We will offer you choices and make a recommendation on every piece, along with a quote of the price and the time involved before any work is done.

Finger Sizing

Ring sizing begins with properly sizing your finger. The ring size is more than just a number. Almost every ring made today and sold in a retail store is a size 7 for ladies and a size 10 for men. That means that almost all rings need to be sized to fit properly.

The first step is to decide which finger you are going to wear the ring on. Then you want to choose a ring gauge that properly fits that finger. A small ring with a thin shank will need to be sized smaller to fit properly, than a wide band. A light weight ring will usually need to be smaller , or a ring with a heavy top will need to be sized smaller in order to keep it from turning around all the time on your finger. Conversely, a wide ring will usually need to be larger in order to be comfortable. We strive to make sure every ring we size fits properly and to the liking of the customer.

There are several tricks to sizing rings that others say cannot be sized. We can put “sizing balls” inside a ring to prevent it from spinning or use a sizing bar inside a ring that cannot be cut because it has a pattern all the way around.

Ring guards made of base metal are available for rings that cannot be sized any other way, but we caution that these are only recommended as a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

We will offer you choices and make a recommendation on every piece, along with a quote of the price and the time involved before any work is done.

Gold, silver and even platinum jewelry will need to be refinished from time to time to restore it to its original finish and luster. We usually do this while you wait.

We start with cleaning and then polish to remove scratches and blemishes to return the finish to its proper shine. We always check all stones and attachments to ensure everything is working properly (clasps, etc.), then clean again to make sure the entire polishing and buffing residue is gone and your jewelry is ready for a night on the town!

We can also rhodium plate white gold to restore it to the showroom-new appearance and bright white look you remember. We will offer you choices and make a recommendation on every piece, along with a quote of the price and the time involved before any work is done.

It only takes a few minutes of your time and not much money - a great value!

Chain Repairs

We can repair all types of chains and bracelets. You may only need an adjustment. (Gold, silver and platinum do not make good springs! Therefore, from time to time, these clasps do need adjusting. There is never a charge for an adjustment, it's FREE!)

You may need a new clasp and we strive to keep a large stock of clasps available in gold, silver and platinum to suit a wide variety of jewelry. But, if we don't have the specific clasp you require, we can usually get it overnight.

Some chains can be soldered; some must be repined to ensure the broken joint functions as new. We will offer you choices and make a recommendation on every piece, along with a quote of the price and the time involved before any work is done.

The video shows several chain repairs and you might want to take a look.

Eyeglass Frame Repair

We can normally repair broken eyeglass frames. Some say they solder frames, but we weld them. This is the same process used in the manufacturing process. Almost any metal frame can be repaired, including stainless steel, brass, titanium and many others. We use a special machine called a Tungsten Inert Gas Welder (TIG). We'll always do this repair within 1 hour, normally 15-20 minutes.

We are not opticians, so we do not dispense lenses. However, we can get your frames back in wearable condition and you can always take your repaired frames back to your optician for adjustment. In fact, most of our repairs are referrals from opticians!

Watchband Sizing and Repairs

We can size most watch bands in just a few minutes.  Other watch repairs are generally repaired within an hour, unless we need to order a specific part to complete the repair.

Watch Batteries, Crystals and Quartz Repair

We stock over 60 types of watch batteries, that can be installed in just a few minutes, while you wait.

We stock hundreds of round crystals in flat and domed varieties in our Crabtree Valley store, which can usually be installed within 1 hour. If your watch requires another shape then we will order the part and install it for you. Crystals (the glass, plastic, or sapphire covering on the front of the watch) can be fitted to most brands including Rolex, Seiko, Citizen, Timex, Tag Heuer, and many others.

We must have the watch to examine it to make sure there are no other problems and to match up your watch with our stock. If we do the work we guarantee it! Ask for details and quotes are available free, before work is done.

Certified Appraisals with Pictures

We can appraise all your jewelry for insurance, estate or other purposes. We also appraise loose stones and metal and coins. This is accomplished using the latest in tools and equipment and documents are compiled using a computer aided program to assure accuracy and completeness of the details in every description.

We first clean the subject piece, and then check for loose stones and excessive wear. We then evaluate each stone in the piece, calling out the details of each stone, and then evaluate the metals involved, including karat or purity and weight, as well as the methods and quality of workmanship. Finally the entire results are immediately tabulated and the reports printed. You may choose to have these reports faxed, emailed or mailed to your insurance agents involved, and you will be given a copy of the entire appraisal with color pictures will be provided for you to take with you.

We want to always do this work while you wait. You may wish to call for an appointment if you have more than 3 or 4 pieces to appraise at one time so that we can block out enough time for you. You never have to leave you pieces if you do not wish to.

Jewelry Engraving, including inside ring engraving

We typically can engrave inside of gold, platinum, and silver rings within an hour.  Other metals vary according to polish and hardness.  We are able to do letters and numbers, but no symbols.  We have a block style, very readable, font.  Some rings may be engraved up to 30 characters, depending what is already inside of the ring.  We will offer you choices, and make a recommendation on every piece, along with a quote of the price and the time involved before any work is done.

Stone Replacements and Tightening

We stock a wide variety of Diamonds for replacement of missing accent or center stones in every shape, and varying colors and qualities so that we can match stones in your jewelry. We can repair the mountings so that we can guarantee these replacements, and bring your jewelry back to like new condition... All prices will be quoted and guarantees will be stated before the work is done.

We also stock a wide variety of precious colored stones (Emeralds, Sapphires, and Rubies) in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, as well as colors so that we can match stones you have. If other qualities and sizes are required, we will try to locate them for you and give you a chance to view them before work is done.

We also stock semi-precious stones, such as Opal, Topaz, Citrine, Tourmaline, Black onyx, Amethyst, Alexandrite, Aquamarine, Moonstone, Star Sapphire and Ruby, Cats eyes, and synthetic or manmade gemstones for your jewelry. If you have a desire, then let us know and we will try to locate the gemstone you want. We even have some gemstone carvings.

We will gladly remount any or all of your gemstones into a new gold, platinum, or silver mounting.  We also offer CAD-CAM custom design services to help you create a truly unique piece of jewelry.  Normally,  we can complete the entire process within a few weeks.  All work of setting your gemstones is done on site.  Feel free to check out our CAD-CAM video in the video section.

Mountings or Custom Mountings

We can take your gemstones or ours to create a one of a kind custom mounting in gold, platinum, or silver made from an original molding, if desired.  Timeframe on this can range widely, from one week or more, depending on the complexity of the piece.  Refer to the CAD-CAM video in the video section.
